About the Opportunity
Mental Health Victoria now has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to lead their NDIS Recovery-oriented Psychosocial Disability Support (ROPDS) Project team in Elsternwick, Melbourne. This role is being offered as a 12 month, part-time contract (30 hours per week), with days and times negotiable depending on your needs. There is also the possibility that the role will be extended.
Reporting to and working closely with the Director Workforce Development and Learning, you'll be leading a team of two staff (1.6 FTE), and also be providing project management support and capability to an additional two smaller, already underway NDIS workforce development projects:
NDIS Recovery-oriented Psychosocial Disability Support Project –A new nation-wide project to identify and lead a market-informed, standardised approach to professional development, working with providers to develop a shared understanding of core competencies and expand their capacity to support participants with psychosocial disabilities.
Your responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
- Managing and coordinating project staff, leading further recruitment efforts as required;
- Identifying, engaging and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, including service providers and relevant peak bodies across Australia;
- Providing advice and expertise to internal staff and external agencies as required; and
- Working collaboratively across state boundaries to identify training or service gaps and develop methods to address these.
NDIS Workforce Development (Psychosocial Capabilities) Project - A state-wide project to translate an already completed capability framework into a workforce capability building program.
From Survive to Thrive: Building the resilience and wellbeing of the NDIS Workforce Project - focussed on the development of two professional development programs for the NDIS workforce around worker wellbeing and resilience.

To be successful in this role you will need demonstrated experience in managing large-scale or sophisticated projects. Confident in your ability to work across multiple projects, you'll be flexible and willing to adapt, not afraid of dealing with new or unforeseen factors if and when they occur.
You will need a solid understanding of mental health / recovery-oriented psychosocial disability support services, and ideally have an awareness of the NDIS program or services. Whilst not essential, a relevant qualification in mental health or project management, or experience with national or state-wide projects, would be highly regarded.
The ability to assess and prioritise competing demands from multiple stakeholders will be crucial. With a strong team management background, you'll demonstrate effective leadership skills and be able to manage and grow your team as needed.
Finally, you'll be genuinely committed to creating positive outcomes for MHV, service providers, and, most importantly, Australians living with mental ill-health and psychosocial disability.
