About the Opportunity

Knauf is currently looking for an Electrical Engineer to join their team on a full-time basis. You will be based at their manufacturing facility in Matraville, NSW, with occasional travel to their QLD or VIC facilities if required.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this is a hands-on role that will see you responsible for the general servicing and continuous improvement of production equipment, troubleshooting issues and providing advice where needed, also leading the commission and installation of new electrical equipment and the end-to-end management of new capital projects.

  • Troubleshooting PLC and HMI issues;
  • Modifying HMI graphics and tying tags back to PLC;
  • Creating and updating electrical and mechanical drawings;
  • Designing electrical motor and control circuitry around variable speed drives;
  • Managing a range of multidisciplinary contractors for projects as required; and
  • Promoting a positive, safe work culture with internal staff and contracts.

Who is Knauf looking for?

To be considered for this role, you will be a qualified Electrical Engineer and hold, or be willing and eligible to obtain, a Restricted Electrical License.

You will be highly experienced in PLC and HMI troubleshooting, as well as data server administration, and be proficient in the following:

  • AutoCAD or similar CAD software;
  • Microsoft Project
  • Rockwell FactoryTalk HMI;
  • Rockwell Historian;
  • Rockwell Asset Centre;
  • Rockwell Vantage Point; and
  • Rockwell ControlLogix.

With a strong background in electrical/mechanical drawing creation and circuit design, you will be genuinely committed to innovation and be able to identify areas for improvement and lead the change process. Experience with or willingness to learn the Plaster Milling/Calcining process would be highly regarded.

You will need excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including Knauf staff and multidisciplinary contractors. Able and willing to provide advice, share your expertise, and help out wherever needed, you'll be a natural team player and promote a safe work culture at all times.

As this is a fast-paced manufacturing environment, your strong attention to detail and ability to operate at a productive pace for extended periods of time will go a long way to ensuring your success. You will understand the importance of getting issues or problems resolved in a timely manner, with experience in a similar continuous manufacturing environment highly regarded.
